  • as a supplement in spheroid media for culturing primary human subcutaneous stromal vascular fraction cells[2]
  • to prepare a cell steatosis model for culturing of mouse and human hepatocytes[3]

Other Notes

Contains non-animal derived fatty acids (2 μg/ml arachidonic and 10 μg/ml each linoleic, linolenic, myristic, oleic, palmitic and stearic), 0.22 mg/ml cholesterol from New Zealand sheep′s wool, 2.2 mg/ml Tween-80, 70 μg/ml tocopherol acetate and 100 mg/ml Pluronic F-68 solubilized in cell culture water.

    1. As listed in the 'DESCRIPTION' section of the product page, under 'Other Notes', this product contains non-animal derived fatty acids (2 μg/ml arachidonic and 10 μg/ml each linoleic, linolenic, myristic, oleic, palmitic and stearic), 0.22 mg/ml cholesterol from New Zealand sheep's wool, 2.2 mg/ml Tween-80, 70 μg/ml tocopherol acetate and 100 mg/ml Pluronic F-68 solubilized in cell culture water.

  2. Lipid Mixture 1, Chemically Defined(L0288) 제품 설명에서 non-animal source라고 되어 있는데 "0.22 mg/ml cholesterol from New Zealand sheep′s wool" 라는 문구가 있습니다. 이를 보면 콜레스테롤의 경우 양모에서 추출한 것 같은데, 혹시 이 성분은 animal source가 맞는건지 아니면 non-animal source인 건지 궁금합니다.

    1 answer
    1. L0288 is not derived from animal origin except for 2003140 cholesterol as stated in the sample CoA on the product site.

    1 answer
    1. As listed in the DESCRIPTION section, this product has been cited as a component of bovine serum albumin in a Bracket-Oliphant (BO) medium for the resuspension of sperm pellets. However, this product is typically used as a medium supplement in mammalian cell culture. While there are fatty acids present in BSA, this product alone is not a suitable replacement for bovine serum albumin. Other supplements would be required. The supplement profile would depend on the type of cell being cultured.
