Merck's M Lab™ Collaboration Center in Songdo Celebrates Fifth Anniversary with Virtual Open House

- Virtual open house will showcase Merck’s bioprocessing capabilities to local university students
Seoul, South Korea, October 21, 2021 – Merck, a leading science and technology company, today commemorated the fifth anniversary of its M Lab™ Collaboration Center in Songdo. The M Lab™ Collaboration Center is a non-GMP facility, equipped and designed to recreate manufacturing environments, evaluate, and troubleshoot processes through hands-on and virtual trainings to support the needs of local and global industry experts.
“Since its establishment in 2016, our Songdo M Lab™ Collaboration Center has supported more than 100 biopharmaceutical and biotech customers including Samsung Biologics, Celltrion, and SK Bioscience,” said Yong Kim, Head of Process Solutions, Life Science business of Merck, Korea. “The biopharmaceutical industry in South Korea is growing exponentially with a strong emphasis on new drug development. Through our M LabTM Collaboration Center, we provide technical expertise, as well as customizable solutions in process development, from early stage to industrial production, which helps our life science customers accelerate therapies to market faster and safer.”
In conjunction with the fifth anniversary celebration, Merck is organizing a virtual open house on November 4 for local university students. The program includes a virtual walk-through of the lab and showcases Merck’s bioprocessing capabilities, from upstream to downstream and through final fill. Additionally, Merck will be providing career consulting for the graduating students. Students interested in the virtual open house can submit their applications here.
The Songdo M Lab™ Collaboration Center is one of the company’s nine centers worldwide. Since 2016, the Center has held more than 540 trainings, comprising hands-on knowledge transfer as well as annual training courses focused on Automatic Filter Integrity Testing and Operation of Tangential Flow Filtration.
