Gene Information

General description

Monoclonal Anti-Nectin-2/PVRL2 (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma R2.525.2 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with 3T3 cells expressing human nectin-2. Nectin-2 is found to be widely expressed in human tissues, including hematopoietic cells.
Nectin-2, also known as poliovirus receptor related protein 2 gene (PRR2), is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 19q13.2. The encoded protein belongs to the nectin protein family and is characterized with an extracellular region with three immunoglobulin-like loops, a single transmembrane domain and a cytoplasmic domain.

Specificity

The antibody has been reported to block cell adhesion and herpes virus entry.

Immunogen

3T3 cells expressing human Nectin-2.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Nectin-2/PVRL2 antibody produced in mouse has been used in:
  • enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • immunoblotting
  • immunocytochemistry
  • flow cytometry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Nectins act as key elements of adherens junctions and facilitate their formation. Nectin-2 possesses anti-viral property against herpes simplex virus (HSV)-2 infection. In mice, loss of nectin-2 affects sperm production and male-specific infertility. Aberrations in the gene has been associated with the pathogenesis of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL). Serum levels of nectin-2 can be used as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for colorectal cancer (CRC).

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
