General description

Y-box-binding protein (YB-1) also known as nuclease-sensitive element-binding protein 1 (NSEP1) is a member of the Cold-Sock Domain (CSD) containing proteins. It is composed of three domains: the N-terminal which is thought to function as a trans-activation regulatory domain, a highly conserved nucleic acid binding domain (the CSD), and C-terminal domain, involved in protein-protein interactions.

Specificity

Anti-YB-1 (C-terminal) antibody is specific for YB-1 in rats, mice and humans. The immunizing peptide specifically inhibits the detection of the YB-1 band by immunoblotting.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 307-324 of human YB-1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat and mouse YB-1 proteins.

Application

Anti-YB-1 (C-terminal) antibody has been used in
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunofluorescence
  • double-immunostaining

Biochem/physiol Actions

Y-box-binding protein (YB-1) is shown to bind to the Y-box promoter element to regulate gene expression. It plays an important role in a wide variety of cellular functions such as transcriptional and translation regulation, DNA repair, drug resistance, and stress responses.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phophate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Fibrosis is characterized by excessive extracellular matrix formation in solid organs, disrupting tissue architecture and function. The Y-box binding protein-1 (YB-1) regulates fibrosis-related genes (e.g., Col1a1, Mmp2, and Tgfβ1) and contributes significantly to disease progression. This study aims to identify
