Gene Information

human ... ALKBH5(54890)

General description

RNA demethylase ALKBH5 is also known as Alkylated DNA repair protein alkB homolog 5 and Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 5. ALKBH5 is a dioxygenase that demethylates RNA, specifically N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA, which affects mRNA processing and export and is needed for spermatogenesis. ALKBH5 has the highest expression in lung, testis, pancreas, spleen and ovary, but is widely expressed across other tissues.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to a region near the C-terminus of human ALKBH5.

Application

Detect ALKBH5 using this rabbit polyclonal antibody, Anti-ALKBH5 Antibody validated for use in western blotting & IP.
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: 10 µg from a representative lot detected ALKBH5 from 500 µg of MCF-7 cell lysate.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is widespread in messenger RNAs and increasing evidence suggests the crucial roles of m6A in cell differentiation and tissue development. However, whether m6A modulates the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has not been fully elucidated.
