General description

Vanillyl alcohol belongs to the phenolic group of compounds which are widely used as oxidants in food products.

Application

Vanillyl alcohol may be used as a reference standard for the determination of vanillyl alcohol in:
  • Processed lignin samples by ultra-high performance supercritical fluid chromatography combined with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPSFC-QTOF-MS).
  • Herb liqueurs by gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID), GC with mass spectrometry operating in electron impact (EI) mode and high performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet (HPLC-UV) detection.
  • Aqueous extracts of sesame (Sesanum indicum) oil by LC with tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) equipped with electrospray ionization source (ESI).
  • Tall gastrodia tuber by HPLC-UV.
