General description

Urinary tract infection (UTI) ChromoSelect Agar is chromogenic differential medium for identification, differentiation, and conformation of enteric bacteria from specimens such as urine, water, or food which may contain large number of Proteus species as well as potentially pathogenic Gram-positive organisms. Based on these characteristics, modified UTI ChromoSelect Agar is suggested for use in place of MacConkey Agar.

Application

Urinary tract infection (UTI) ChromoSelect Agar, modified has been used in the cell culture of Escherichia coli.[1][2] It has also been used in the culturing of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli to plate mouse thigh muscle homogenates for bacterial count.[3]

Preparation Note

Suspend 55.4 g in 1 litre distilled water. Boil to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 1 bar pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes. Cool to 50°C and pour into sterile petri plates.

Other Notes

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
Chromogenic medium for detecting and identifying Enterobacteria, Proteus species, and certain potentially pathogenic Gram-positive organisms.[4]
