In this webinar, we take a look into a running hot melt extrusion process in our R&D labs located in Darmstadt, Germany, in order to provide you with a hands-on experience of the process. We will also offer guidance on the processing of the extrudate and the versatile downstream options to create your final dosage forms.
This webinar is part 3 of our series, "Shaping the Future of Solid Dose Manufacturing with Hot Melt Extrusion" in cooperation with Thermo Fisher Scientific and MeltPrep.

Speakers
Daniel Treffer, Ph.D.
MeltPrep
Founder and CEO
Daniel Treffer is the founder of MeltPrep which develops dedicated equipment for ASD and implant formulation development work of thermoplastic formulations. The proprietary and patented VCM technology is based on his Ph.D. findings. Professor Khinast supervised his work at the RCPE in Graz, Austria, from 2011 to 2016. Daniel faced several challenges in hot melt extrusion development projects and recognized the need for novel tools for faster and lower material usage for formulation developments. His invention, vacuum compression molding (VCM), can prepare extrusion-like samples with a few mg of material.
Margarethe Richter, Ph.D.
Thermo Fisher Scientific
Pharma Application Specialist
Margarethe Richter, Ph.D. is a pharma application specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific where she develops new applications related to pharmaceutical hot melt extrusion and twin screw granulation. She earned her Ph.D. degree (Dr.-Ing.) researching at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) on thermodynamic and reaction kinetics. Margarethe is a chemical engineer by training and graduated from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Thomas Kipping, Ph.D.
Merck
Head of Drug Carriers
Dr. Thomas Kipping is an expert in the field of pharmaceutical technology and formulation development. Thomas is currently the head of drug carriers at Merck. With more than 10 years of industrial experience, spanning various sectors within the pharmaceutical industry, including drug product development and CDMO services, he has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing pharmaceutical sciences and enhancing drug development processes He holds a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical technology from the University of Bonn.
