General description

Native glucoamylase from Rhizopus species. Glucoamylase is a multi-domain enzyme that belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 15 family. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of 1,4-linked α-D-glucose residues in glucosylpolysaccharides, liberating glucose units. Useful for the enzymatic determination of starch.

Unit Definition

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will liberate 1 µmol glucose from maltopentaose per min at 37°C, pH 6.0.

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 3 months at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions.
