General description

Chemical structure: ß-lactam
Oxacillin is a bactericidal agent, which can be used for the treatment of infections due to penicillinase-producing staphylococci. Its mode of action involves inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis and thus affects bacterial penicillin-binding proteins.

Application

Oxacillin sodium salt monohydrate has been used as a reference standard in the determination of the analyte in milk samples by receptor-binding assay test.
