Description générale

KLF7 (Kruppel-like factor 7) gene is mapped in human chromosome 2q33.3. The encoded protein is a zinc finger transcription factor. It is widely expressed in developing nervous system and also in motor neurons.

Application

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

KLF7 (Kruppel-like factor 7) is involved in cellular development and differentiation, specifically of adipocytes. KLF7 transcription factor controls the genes associated with neuronal axon outgrowth and repair, particularly the retinal ganglion and sensory neurons. KLF7 is known to further improve the corticospinal neuron regeneration in vivo after spinal cord injury. Overexpression of KLF7 in insulin-secreting cell line suppresses the expression and glucose-induced secretion of insulin. KLF7 might be associated with the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
