2-Methyl-5-nitroaniline is one of the laser-induced decomposition products of Pigment Red 22 and Pigment Red 9 (widely used azo compound).

Application

2-Methyl-5-nitroaniline may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in groundwater samples using gas chromatography combined with electron-capture negative-ion chemical ionization mass spectrometry (GC-EC-NICI-MS).
