Informations sur le gène

Description générale

CAVIN-3/PRKCDBP, also known as Cavin-3/SRBC or Serum deprivation response factor-related gene product that binds to C-kinase, and encoded by the gene Prkcdbp/Srbc, is an adapter molecule that binds PKCdelta and is a member of the STICK (substrates that interact with C-kinase) superfamily of PKC-binding proteins. CAVIN-3 binds caveolin and localizes to the caveolae. CAVIN-3 remains associated with caveolin when caveolae bud to form vesicles (cavicles) that travel on microtubules to different regions of the cell. In the absence of CAVIN-3 intracellular cavicle traffic is markedly impaired. CAVIN-3 is also called SRBC for (sdr-related gene product that binds to c-kinase). Caveolae are a major membrane domain common to most cells. One of the defining features of this domain is the protein caveolin, and it is now know that CAVIN-3 is critical to caveolae function. CAVIN-3 is expressed in uterus, ovary, mammary and epithelial cells. Also expressed in brain, lung, heart, spleen, intestine, kidney, skeletal muscle and testis, but it is not found in liver. The protein appears to be up-regulated in serum starved conditions and growth arrest conditions suggesting a survival response.

Immunogène

Qualité

Evaluated by Western Blotting in NIH/3T3 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected CAVIN-3/PRKCDBP in 10 µg of NIH/3T3 cell lysate.

Description de la cible

~ 37 kDa observed. Uncharacterized band(s) may appear in some lysates. The calculated MW is 28 kDa However, this protein has been observed at ~34 kDa (Prof. U. Schibler, University of Geneva).

Forme physique

Rabbit polyclonal serum containing 0.05% sodium azide.
Unpurified

Stockage et stabilité

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
