General description

EcoCult® Lactose Broth is a non-selective bacterial enrichment media. It contains peptone and meat extract that provide carbon and nitrogen sources for bacterial growth. Lactose acts as a carbohydrate source and its utilization is indicated by gas production. The gas liberated is collected in DURHAM tubes.

Application

EcoCult® Lactose Broth is suitable for the preliminary non-selective enrichment of bacteria, particularly Salmonella spp. It is also used as a preliminary test for coliform bacteria, especially Escherichia coli. The media is recommended for the bioburden testing of the food, water, dairy, and pharmaceutical products.
