Application

α1-Mating Factor acetate salt has been used for the synchronization of yeast cells for flow cytometry and to study B-type cyclin (Clb2p)-EmCitrine levels from calcofluor white treated cells.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

The α1-Mating factor is a pheromone produced by yeast that regulates mating. α1-Mating Factor acetate salt can be utilized to arrest the G1-phase of the cell cycle in various yeast strains.

Notes préparatoires

Alpha1-Mating Factor acetate salt dissolves in water at 1 mg/ml to yield a clear, colorless solution.

Single-molecule force spectroscopy using atomic force microscopy (AFM) is more and more used to detect and map receptors, enzymes, adhesins, or any other molecules at the surface of living cells. To be specific, this technique requires antibodies or ligands covalently

We report that the histone acetyltransferase Gcn5p is involved in cell cycle progression, whereas its absence induces several mitotic defects, including inefficient nuclear division, chromosome loss, delayed G(2) progression, and spindle elongation.
