General description

β-Estradiolis a natural steroid estrogen and a female sex hormone. It is an essential component of the female menstrual cycle and plays an important role in the growth and maintenance of the reproductive system.

Application

β-Estradiol has been used:
  • for the in vitro maturation of bovine cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs)
  • as a supplement in in vitro maturation medium (IVM), which is used as a control medium
  • in estrogen-induction assay[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

The major estrogen secreted by the premenopausal ovary. Estrogens direct the development of the female phenotype in embryogenesis and during puberty by regulating gene transcription and, thus, protein synthesis. It also induces the production of gonadotropins which, in turn, induce ovulation. Exposure to estradiol increases breast cancer incidence and proliferation.

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. Is there an optimal concentration for dissolving E8875 in absolute ethanol? How long can the product be stored at 4°C? How about at -20°C? What is the maximum number of times the product can be thawed?

    1 answer
    1. This product is tested in absolute ethanol at a concentration of 50 mg/mL. The stability of the solution at 4°C has not been evaluated. When stored at -20°C, the solution should be kept in aliquots to prevent repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.

      Helpful?

  2. Can I dissolve E8875-1G with ethanol and keep it below -20℃?

    1 answer
    1. This product can be dissolved in ethanol and solutions can be stored in frozen aliquots avoiding repetitive freeze/thaws cycles.

      Helpful?

  3. Which of the two options, E1024 or E8875, is preferable for use as 1) an oral supplement and 2) silastic tube release? Additionally, among these which one is better for dissolving estrogen in sesame oil.

    1 answer
    1. The in vivo application is beyond the scope of product characterization efforts. However, for the specified applications, E8875 is highly recommended, as it has been well cited in the literature. The following publications may be of interest for protocol reference:
