Adéquation

selective and differential for Clostridium spp.

Application

A chromogenic Agar for enumeration detection and differentiation of Clostridium sp., in particular Clostridium perfringens, in aqueous samples. The medium is more reliable than m-CP Agar and easier to handle.

Notes préparatoires

Suspend 31.42 g in 400 ml distilled water and adjust the volume to 500 ml. Boil to dissolve the medium completely. Cool to 50-55°C and add 1 vial of Perfringens T.S.C. Supplement (P9352) or 1 vials of M-CP selective Supplement I (Cat. No. 51962). Dispense into petri dishes (we recommend small ones).

Note de bas de page

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.

Two media (mCP medium and Tryptose Sulphite Cycloserine (TSC) agar) were evaluated for recovery of Clostridium perfringens in environmental and part-treated drinking water. For laboratory strains of Clostridium, mCP was more selective and specific for Cl. perfringens than TSC, but
Epsilon toxin is essential for the virulence of Clostridium perfringens type D infection in sheep, goats, and mice.

The European Directive on drinking water quality has included mCP agar as the reference method for recovering Clostridium perfringens from drinking waters. In the present study, three media (mCP, TSCF and CP Chromo Select Agar) were evaluated for recovery of
