General description

The Lewis b (Leb) antigens are widely expressed in the proximal colon. During fetal development, Leb antigens are found throughout the colon, but after birth, they gradually diminish in the distal colon.

Application

Lewis-b tetrasaccharide has been used to treat the P protein for complex crystal growth.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The Lewis b (Leb) antigen reappearance is an excellent tumor marker for discriminating between malignant and benign tumors, and it can also be used in many cases of colon cancer.

Other Notes

Lewis-b human blood group determinant.

Human noroviruses (huNoVs) recognize histo-blood group antigens (HBGAs) as attachment factors, in which genogroup (G) I and GII huNoVs use distinct binding interfaces. The genetic and evolutionary relationships of GII huNoVs under selection by the host HBGAs have been well

Lewis b (Leb) antigens are gradiently expressed from the proximal to the distal colon, i.e., they are abundantly expressed in the proximal colon, but only faintly in the distal colon. In the distal colon, they begin to increase at the

O-Linked glycoproteins are usually large proteins with a molecular mass of >200 kDa. Glycosylation generally occurs in high-density clusters and may represent as much as 50-80% of the overall mass.
