Application

Used to eliminate enzyme inhibition by traces of heavy metals, and to inhibit enzymes that require divalent cations as cofactors. Iron-EDTA enhances damage due to reactive oxygen species, such as depletion of reduced glutathione, formation of methemoglobin, and lipid peroxidation.

Molecular plant-microbe interactions : MPMI, 32(10), 1324-1335 (2019-05-21)
In ascomycetes and basidiomycetes, iron-responsive GATA-type transcriptional repressors are involved in regulating iron homeostasis, notably to prevent iron toxicity through control of iron uptake. To date, it has been unknown whether this iron regulator contributes toward mutualistic endosymbiosis of microbes

Sodium iron ethylenediaminetetraacetic acetate (NaFeEDTA) is a promising iron fortificant for populations consuming high-phytate diets. It produces fewer organoleptic effects than other fortificants do, especially when the matrix of the food vehicle contains fat, and has a bioavailability two to

Foods fortified with sodium iron ethylenediaminetetraacetate (NaFeEDTA) have been shown to improve iron status in children, but little is known about the effect of this salt on urinary zinc excretion, particularly in children. This is particularly relevant, since zinc deficiency

Few studies have evaluated the impact of fortification with iron-rich foods such as amaranth grain and multi-micronutrient powder (MNP) containing low doses of highly bioavailable iron to control iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in children. We assessed the efficacy of maize

The absorption profile of iron fortificants may be a determinant of their ability to generate nontransferrin-bound iron (NTBI) and, thus, their potential safety. Ferrous iron may be absorbed more rapidly than chelated ferric iron, but differences at the fortification level
