Gene Information

General description

Cell death-inducing DFFA-like effector protein C (CIDEC), also known as Fat-specific protein FSP27 homolog (FSP27) is a protein expressed primarily in adipose tissue that plays a role in lipid storage and lipid droplet function and metabolism. CIDEC/FSP27 is also thought to play a role in adipocyte apoptosis as over expression in preadipocytes induces apoptosis, however, in mature adipocytes CIDEC/FSP27 expression provides resistance to apoptotic stimuli. CIDE/FSP27 is also a transcription factor in white adipose tissue, where the protein acts as a coactivator with CEBPB protein to control the expression of many genes including SOCS1, SOCS3, TGFB1, TGFBR1, ID2 and XDH. CIDEC/FSP27 is localized both in the nucleus and cytoplasmic endoplasmic reticulum as well as in lipid droplets. CIDEC/FSP27 expression can also be found in other tissues other than adipose tissue including heart, brain, kidney and liver. CIDEC/FSP27 levels are regulated via the ubiquitin proteasomal degradation pathway, and the CIDEC/FSP27 level is also dependent upon triacylglycerol synthesis, fatty acid availability and lipid droplet formation need.

Immunogen

Epitope: CIDE-N domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the CIDE-N domain of human CIDEC/FSP27.

Application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected CIDEC/FSP27 in human colorectal cancer and human ileum tissue.

This Anti-CIDEC Antibody/FSP27 is validated for use in Western Blotting and Immunohistochemistry for the detection of CIDEC/FSP27.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HCT116 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected CIDEC/FSP27 in 10 µg of HCT116 cell lysate.

Target description

~30 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight is 27 kDa, however CIDEC/FSP27 has been shown as a ~30 kDa band in some western blots. Uncharacterized band(s) may appear in some lysates.

Physical form

Affinity purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.
