General description

The previously assigned protein identifier Q6PZN5 has been merged into Q92185. Full details can be found on the UniProt database.

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 4506953, sequence 4-18
Synthetic peptide sequence of ST8 α-N-acetyl-neuraminide α-2,8-sialyltransferase 1.

Application

Anti-ST8SIA1 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

α-N-acetylneuraminide α-2,8-sialyltransferase is an enzyme encoded by the ST8SIA1 gene in humans. It acts as an oligosialyltransferase in a cellular context. ST8SIA1 gene encodes a ganglioside synthase and is susceptibile to diseases. The gene is found to be associated with Multiple sclerosis (MS).

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
