General description

Endothelial Cell Growth Medium 2 (Ready-to-use)

Application

Endothelial Cell Growth Medium is a low-serum (2% V/V) medium optimized for the cultivation of endothelial cells from large blood vessels. The media are optimized for primary human cells but can also be used for bovine, porcine, murine, caprine, rabbit, elephant, dog, and rat endothelial cells from large vessels as well as for various endothelial cell lines.Note: For best transfection results we recommend using PromoCell heparin-free Endothelial Cell Growth Medium MV2. Heparin, included all our other our Endothelial Cell Growth Media formulations, may reduce transfection efficiency.

Quality

All lots of PromoCell Endothelial Cell Media 2 are subjected to comprehensive quality control tests using primary human endothelial cells. Each lot is checked for growth promoting activity, adherence rate, and typical morphology of the tested endothelial cells. Approved in-house lots of media are used as a reference. In addition, all lots of media have been tested for the absence of microbial contaminants (fungi, bacteria, mycoplasma).

Preparation Note

Final supplement concentrations after addition to the basal medium:Epidermal Growth Factor (recombinant human): 5 ng / mlBasic Fibroblast Growth Factor (recombinant human): 10 ng / ml Insulin-like Growth Factor (Long R3 IGF): 20 ng / ml Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor 165 (recombinant human): 0.5 ng / mlAscorbic Acid: 1 µg / mlHeparin: 22.5 µg / ml Hydrocortisone: 0.2 µg / ml

Storage and Stability

Store the Basal Medium at 4 to 8°C in the dark and the SupplementMix or SupplementPack at -20°C immediately after arrival. Do not freeze the Basal Medium. If stored properly, the products are stable until the expiry date stated on the label. After adding the supplements to the Basal Medium, the shelf life of the complete medium is 6 weeks at 4 to 8°C. Do not freeze the complete medium. For use, pre-warm only an aliquot of the complete medium and keep the remaining medium refrigerated at 4 to 8°C.
