General description

Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (Divergan) is used as an excipient to prepare samples for subsequent analysis steps. It has a wide range of applications, especially in the beverage industry. It is used to pre-treat samples such as juices with strong colors which would interfere with the analysis using MQuant or Reflectoquant test strips. For decolorization, the juices are mixed with the powder and filtrated afterwards. The resulting solution can then be used for the determination of e.g. ascorbic acid or HMF.

Application

  • Standardization of strawberry sourness and sweetness intensities using a taste sensor system and an invariant taste standard solution.: This study explores the use of polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) in taste sensor systems to standardize flavor intensities, which can be applied to enhance the analytical reproducibility in food chemistry (Ujihara et al., 2023).
  • Comprehensive Insight into Chemical Stability of Important Antidiabetic Drug Vildagliptin Using Chromatography (LC-UV and UHPLC-DAD-MS) and Spectroscopy (Mid-IR and NIR with PCA).: Analyzes the stability of the antidiabetic drug Vildagliptin, utilizing PVPP for sample preparation to enhance the precision of chemical stability assessments, critical for ensuring drug safety and efficacy (Gumieniczek et al., 2021).
  • Rapid determination of 134 pesticides in tea through multi-functional filter cleanup followed by UPLC-QTOF-MS.: Demonstrates the application of PVPP in streamlining the cleanup process in pesticide residue analysis in tea, emphasizing its role in simplifying complex sample preparation steps for better analytical outcomes (Meng et al., 2022).
  • Effect of Sample Preparation on the Detection and Quantification of Selected Nuts Allergenic Proteins by LC-MS/MS.: Investigates the effects of different sample preparation methods, including the use of PVPP, on the detection of nut proteins, highlighting the impact of these methods on the sensitivity and accuracy of allergen detection in food products (Sagu et al., 2021).
  • SILIA-Based 4C Quantitative PTM Proteomics.: This research utilizes PVPP in a novel SILIA-based method for quantifying post-translational modifications in proteins, showcasing the adaptability of PVPP in advanced analytical methodologies to enhance the depth and quality of proteomic analysis (Wong & Li, 2021).
