General description

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is one of the major phospholipids in biological tissues and food samples. PS has unsaturated acyl chains in their structure.

Application

Soy PS is suitable for use:
  • as standard and in the preparation of calibration curve for liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
  • in the preparation of lipid bilayer disks
  • as a substrate to determine the interaction of anionic lipids with Clostridium sordellii lethal toxin-N terminal catalytic domain (TcsL-cat)
  • in the preparation of liposomes mimicking the inner mitochondrial membrane

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is mainly present in the cytosolic leaflet of plasma membrane, endosomes and lysosomes. It is also present in the interior of the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex and mitochondria. PS is the preferential binding substrate for Clostridium sordellii lethal toxin (TcsL). PS is a component of the lipid-calcium-phosphate complex for deposition during bone formation, regulation of apoptosis and blood coagulation.
