General description

Skeletal muscle is actively involved in the synthesis and secretion of many proteins collectively termed “myokines.” Muscle contraction during physical activity is an important activator for the release of myokines, which act in an autocrine and/or paracrine manner to regulate skeletal muscle growth. Myokines also act as endocrine hormones which mediate inter-organ crosstalk. Myokine theory provides molecular mechanistic explanations for exercise-induced metabolic changes in liver and adipose tissue as well as for profound changes in immune and neuron systems. Various rat disease models are now serving as exceptional research tools for myokine study.

MILLIPLEX® Rat Myokine Panel is a 12-plex kit to be used for the simultaneous quantification of any or all of the following analytes in serum, plasma, and tissue culture samples: Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Erythropoeitin (EPO), Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 (FGF21), Follistatin-Like Protein 1 (FSTL-1), Fractalkine (FKN / CX3CL1), IL-6, IL-15, Irisin, Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF), Myostatin (MSTN / GDF8), Osteocrin/Musclin (OSTN), Osteonectin (SPARC). This kit uses a 96-well format, contains a lyophilized standard cocktail, two internal assay quality controls and can measure up to 38 samples in duplicate.

The Luminex® xMAP® platform uses a magnetic bead immunoassay format for ideal speed and sensitivity to quantitate multiple analytes simultaneously, dramatically improving productivity while conserving valuable sample volume.

Panel Type: Cytokines/Chemokines

Specificity

Cross Reactivty
Cross-reactivity between the antibodies and any of the other analytes in this panel is non-detectable or negligible.
