General description

Somatostatin Receptor 2A (SSTR2A) is a protein highly expressed in pancreas binding somatostatin and inhibiting pancreatic enzyme secretion. SSTR2A is used as a marker for identifying meningioma from other spindle-cell tumors such as solitary fibrous tumor. SSTR2A is more frequently expressed in higher grade meningiomas and associated to its microvessel proliferation. SSTR2A has demonstrated utility as a diagnostic marker for follicular dendritic cell sarcomas and some other related tumors.

Somatostatin anti-proliferative and anti-angiogenic activities, together with the expression of somatostatin receptors (sstrs), account for the use of somatostatin analogues in the treatment of human tumours. In the present study, sstr2A immunohistochemical expression was analyzed in grade II and III

The differential diagnosis between meningioma and others tumors can be challenging. This study aimed to evaluate different immunohistochemical markers for the differential diagnosis between meningioma and their morphological mimics. Immunohistochemistry was performed on tissue microarray with antiepithelial membrane antigen (EMA)

SSTR2a, a member of the somatostatin receptor family, has been used as a diagnostic marker of meningioma. However, the expression of SSTR2a in follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) and their related tumors has been poorly characterized. This study aimed to assess
Somatostatin receptor 2a is a more sensitive diagnostic marker of meningioma than epithelial membrane antigen.

Somatostatin-14 (SST) inhibits insulin and glucagon secretion by activating G protein-coupled somatostatin receptors (SSTRs), of which five isoforms exist (SSTR1-5). In mice, the effects on pancreatic β-cells are mediated by SSTR5, whereas α-cells express SSTR2. In both cell types, SSTR
