General description

Hydrochloric acid solution (32 wt. % in H2O, FCC) is used in the food industry as pH adjusters and food additives (2).

Application

Hydrochloric acid solution is used as a pH adjuster:
  • In the production of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) during the process of converting corn starch to fructose.
  • In the production of drinking water, beverages and foods. (2)
Hydrochloric acid solution is also used as a processing aid in the production of food additives like fructose, citric acid, and hydrolyzed vegetable protein. (2)

PACSIN2, a membrane-sculpting BAR domain protein, localizes to caveolae. Here, we found that protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylates PACSIN2 at serine 313, thereby decreasing its membrane binding and tubulation capacities. Concomitantly, phosphorylation decreased the time span for which caveolae could

Metformin is the mainstay therapy for type 2 diabetes (T2D) and many patients also take salicylate-based drugs [i.e., aspirin (ASA)] for cardioprotection. Metformin and salicylate both increase AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activity but by distinct mechanisms, with metformin altering cellular
