General description

A cell-permeable vinyl-sulfone compound that acts as an inhibitor of STAT3 cellular function by targeting the STAT3-SH2 domain and preventing its association with upstream kinases. The effect of Stattic towards STAT family members is temperature-dependent and appears to be highly STAT3-selective at 37°C. Shown to inhibit cellular phosphorylation of STAT3 at Tyr705 with little effect towards STAT1 phosphorylation at Tyr701 (in HepG2 cells) or the phosphorylation of JAK1, JAK2, and c-Src (in MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-235S cells).

Warning

Toxicity: Irritant (B)

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 month at -20°C. Note: The use of freshly opened DMSO strongly recommended; the thiol impurities present in DMSO will modify the molecule. Highly recommended to reconstitute just before each use.
