Biochem/physiol Actions
Methotrexat ist ein allosterischer Inhibitor der Dihydrofolatreduktase (DHFR), des Enzyms, das die Umwandlung von Dihydrofolat in Tetrahydrofolsäure katalysiert. Da Tetrahydrofolsäure für die Purin- und Pyrimidinsynthese erforderlich ist, führt die Behandlung mit Methotrexat zu einer Hemmung der DNA- und RNA-Synthese.

Alkaline stock solutions can decompose. It is best to prepare stock solutions in a minimal amount of of 1 M sodium hydroxide, then dilute with saline or medium. Solutions can be stored at -20°C for about one month. Solutions can be stored for about 1 week at 2-8°C.
