General description

Fluid Thioglycollate Medium is a nutrient rich broth designed for the cultivation and isolation of fastidious aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms present in sterility test samples of pharmaceutical industry.
The anaerobic atmosphere is created through reducing the redox potential of the medium by Thioglycollate and L-Cystine. Additionally, these compounds inactivate mercury and other heavy metal elements present in the environment.
The higher viscosity of the medium prevents rapid oxygen uptake and any increase in the oxygen content is indicated by the indicator, sodium resazurin which changes its color to red.

Application

Fluid Thioglycollate Medium is used to cultivate and isolate obligate & facultative anaerobic and microaerophilic bacteria during sterility testing.
