General description

This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food. Find all available reference materials for compounds listed in 10/2011 here
Vinyl chloride is a colorless gas, which can serve as a monomer for the industrial production of poly(vinyl chloride) bhomopolymer and copolymer. It can also be used in the production of vinyl stearate, vinylidene chloride, tri- and tetra-chloroethylene. It can be obtained via reaction of hydrochloric acid with acetylene derived from calcium carbide.

High performance, reliability, and reproducibility of HS-SPME in combination with GC/MS for the determination of VOCs in water was proven in an interlaboratory trial. The new ISO 17943 using HS-SPME is an improvement on existing official methods for this determination in terms of sensitivity and selectivity.
