General description

Poly(methyl vinyl ether-alt-maleic acid) (PMVEMA) is a hydrophilic polymer which is biocompatible with bioadhesive properties. It is an acidic polymer that can be used to improve the stability and zeta potential of polyaniline (PANI) solution.

Application

PMVEMA can be cross-linked with cellulose whiskers for the formation of nanocomposite films for potential usage in medical and food packaging applcations. It can also be conjugated with polyethylene glycol (PEG) to form hydrogels which can be used in drug delivery systems.
Detergent builder.

Features and Benefits

Dissolves readily in water, chelates alkaline earth cations but not toxic heavy metal ions.
