General description

An easy to use two step kit that reduces melanin while preserving delicate tissue, cytologic detail, and antigens. Heavy melanin pigment in the cells can obscure cellular morphology and subsequently impair interpretation when using routine or special histochemical stains. The Melanin Bleach Kit enables the removal of melanin from tissue sections allowing for positive staining to be interpreted correctly. A two step kit that does not require mixing. Used before staining to reduce melanin while preserving delicate tissue, cytologic detail, and antigens.

Application

  • Subsequently impair interpretation when using special stains or histochemical.
  • For removal of melanin from tissue sections prior to staining with 3,3′-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride (DAB) for special staining other histochemical methods.
  • Melanin Bleach Kit can be used for removal of melanin from tissue sections prior to staining with 3,3′-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride (DAB) for special staining, or other histochemical methods.
  • Not recommended for immunohistochemistry.

Principle

Melanins are pale brown, dark brown, or black pigments that are found intracellularly in the cytoplasm. Melanins are found in hair, skin, retina and the substantia nigra of the brain. These pigments interfere with visualization of cellular detail in light microscopy. The Melanin Bleach Kit provides an easy, time saving methodology for reducing melanin interference.
