General description

A certified Snap-N-Spike® solution suitable for use as starting material in calibrators and controls for fentanyl LC/MS or GC/MS testing methods in clinical toxicology, urine drug testing, prescription monitoring, or forensic analysis applications. Marketed under the trade name Wildnil as a general anesthetic for large animals, carfentanil hit the illicit market in 2016 as a new NPS drug or in combination with heroin. Carfentanil, a μ-opioid receptor agonist, is also known as 4-carbomethoxyfentanyl. It is a fentanyl analog 10,000 times more potent than morphine, making it one of the most potent synthetic opioids available.

Application

The Certified Reference Mateial (CRM) in solution can also be used as follows:

  • Quantification of pharmaceutical drugs, fentanyl, and its analogs from slurries prepared using powdered drug samples by paper spray-mass spectrometry (PS-MS)
  • Evaluation of portable nano-liquid chromatography-electron ionization-mass spectrometry (nLC-EI-MS technique for the on-site identification of fentanyl and its derivatives
  • Ultra-high-performance liquid chromatographic-tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) analysis of 28 fentanyl analogs after their liquid-liquid extraction from whole blood samples
  • Development of an optimized method for collection and extraction of 17 fentanyl and 10 of the most common fentanyl adulterants using a solid, non-porous surface followed by their measurement by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)

Features and Benefits

  • Fully characterized under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accreditation
  • Accompanied with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (CoA) with data on stability, homogeneity, accuracy of concentration, uncertainty, and traceability
  • Rigorously tested through real-time stability studies to ensure accuracy and shelf life
  • Gravimetrically prepared using qualified precision balances to ensure minimal uncertainty
  • Flame sealed under argon into ampoules for long-term shelf life
  • Offered in an ampoule, protected in a “safety can”, to ensure safe transport and handling in the lab
