General description

WL Differential media is recommended for selective isolation and enumeration of bacteria encountered in breweries and industrial fermentations. The presence of cyclohexamide inhibits the growth of yeasts.{4} Ready-to-use Liquid ampoule media solve numerous problems in microbiology laboratories where time, equipment and trained personnel are often in short supply. They are available in convenient, single test 2 mL plastic ampoules, eliminating the manipulation of glass ampoules and avoiding the waste and spoilage associated with bulk packaged media.

Application

WL differential media is used in the growth of acetic acid bacteria, Flavobacterium, Proteus and thermophilic bacteria under aerobic and growth of lactic acid bacteria and Pediococcus under anaerobic condition.{5}

Analysis Note

Bacteria appear as small colonies with green blue color. If cycloheximide resistant yeast grow, they are creamy, green-white
QC organisms
A. aceti (ATCC 15973)
