Biochem/physiol Actions
Interleukin-7 is a lymphoid cell growth factor which affects pre-B, pro-B and early T cells. It supports the growth of early B cells and is mitogenic for thymocytes and co-mitogenic with PHA and Con A. IL-7 stimulates the proliferation of CD4/CD8 cells. Human and mouse IL-7 have 60% amino acid sequence identity.

Cervical thymus mimics the thoracic thymus in supporting T-cell development and exists in a subset of mice and humans. Importantly, it remains unknown whether the cervical thymus can generate T cells that are self-tolerant in the complete absence of signals

Inhibition of DNA repair and oxidative stress are 2 common mechanisms associated with arsenic-induced genotoxicity. The purpose of this study was to examine mechanisms of genotoxicity induced by environmentally relevant doses of arsenite (As(+3)) in mouse thymus cells. An increase

The flanking amino acids that surround epitopes are critical for effective antigen processing and maintenance of epitope integrity. In the present study, the frequency and characteristics of each amino acid that flanked the peptides generated from the proteasomal degradation of

Therapeutic control of HIV replication reduces the size of the viral reservoir, particularly among central memory CD4+ T cells, and this effect might be accentuated by early treatment. We examined the effect of ART initiated at the time of the

Immunization against self-tumor antigens can induce T-regulatory cells, which inhibit proliferation of type I CD4(+) T-helper (TH1) and CD8(+) cytotoxic T cells. Type I T cells are required for potent antitumor immunity. We questioned whether immunosuppressive epitopes could be identified
