General description

IKK β is a component of I-κ-B-kinase (IKK) core complex consisting of IKK α, IKK β and IKK γ and belongs to Ser/Thr protein kinase family. It has a pivotal role in NF-κ-B signaling pathway. Anti-IKK β antibody can be used in immunoblot (diluted 1:1000). Rabbit anti-IKK β antibody reacts specifically with human IKK β (85 kD).

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide located near the C-terminal region of human IKKβ (amino acids 720-735) conjugated to KLH.

Application

Anti-IKK β antibody can be used in western blotting (diluted 1:500) by using whole extract of human epitheloid carcinoma HeLa cell line.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin and 15 mM sodium azide.

Nuclear transcription factors of the NF-kappaB/Rel family are inhibited by IkappaB proteins, which inactivate NF-kappaB by trapping it in the cell cytoplasm. Phosphorylation of IkappaBs marks them out for destruction, thereby relieving their inhibitory effect on NF-kappaB. A cytokine-activated protein
