The excretion of cathepsin B, a lysosomal cysteine proteinase, by parathyroid hormone-stimulated embryonic mouse calvaria in culture, correlates closely with the extent of bone resorption evaluated by the loss of hydroxyproline and calcium and by the extension of resorption lacunae.
