General description

Adenine is a purine nucleobase with a wide range of chemical and biochemical roles in vivo and in vitro. It is a regulatory molecule and a component of DNA, RNA, cofactors (NAD, FAD), and signaling molecules (cAMP).

Application

Adenine hydrochloride hydrate has been used:

  • as a supplement in a rich medium for galactose induction during yeast cell culture.
  • for the incubation of MiaPaCa2 cell lines for cell viability and co-culture assay.
  • as a component of the Pombe Glutamate (PMG)media for the germination of Schizosaccharomyces pombe.

In eukaryotic cells, silent chromatin is mainly found at the nuclear periphery forming subnuclear compartments that favor silencing establishment. Here, we set up an inducible system to monitor silencing establishment at an ectopic locus in relation with its subnuclear localization

Arginyltransferase1 (ATE1) is a conserved enzyme in eukaryotes mediating posttranslational arginylation, the addition of an extra arginine to an existing protein. In mammals, the dysregulations of the ATE1 gene (ate1) is shown to be involved in cardiovascular abnormalities, cancer, and
