Description

General description

Cyclohexane participates as starting reagent in the photonitrosylation process (PNC process) and affords ε-caprolactam. Its oxidation by employing various oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide, tert-butyl hydroperoxide and molecular oxygen has been reported.

Application

Cyclohexane has been used to prepare the 1.3M solution of sec-butyllithium. It may be used as starting reagent for the synthesis of adipic acid.
