General description

Dotriacontane is an n-alkane primarily present in safflower oil. It shows high self-assembly in comparison to mixtures of alkanes with an odd number of carbon atoms.

Application

Dotriacontane (C32) can be used:
  • In the development of organogels.
  • In the synthesis of polystyrene based composite nanoencapsules for thermal energy storage.
  • As a high boiling solvent for the preparation of germanium nanowires by thermal decomposition of diphenylgermane (DPG).
