General description

Ethan(ol-d) (C2H5OD) is a monodeutero ethyl alcohol. It can be prepared by reacting sodium ethoxide (C2H5ONa) with deuterium oxide (D2O). Its Raman spectra have been investigated. The hydrogen/deuterium (H/D) exchange reaction between protonated alkylbenzenes and C2H5OD enables to evaluate the number of aromatic hydrogens in alkylbenzenes.
