Application

Nitrazine Yellow has been used in dye-protein binding assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Nitrazine Yellow ( 2-(2,4-dinitrophenylazo)-1-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid disodium salt) is a pH-sensitive azo dye. It changes color from yellow to blue in pH range 6.0–7.0 and is widely used in microscopy. Throat swab immersed in nitrazine yellow is used to identify pH variations in the vagina before and after amniotomy.
